| Real Love Why is it that whenever you try to show the truth of God's Word to others (that it's wrong to be a homosexual for example), you get accused of being a "hater" or "basher"? Since when is the Holy Word of God that guides us to eternal life equated with hate??? It just seems like most modern day pastors are more concerned about offending someone than they are about teaching and preaching the truth. Nobody wants to hear about eternal punishment or that it is a sin to be something that is currently "tolerated" for the sake of "political correctness". We just want to hear the "good" Scriptures (the ones that fit with our lifestyles). But if we preach and teach a "watered down", "acceptable to all Gospel" we are only denying others the only truth that can save their soul, and their blood is on our hands. Is this really showing love??? When did "tolerance" and being "politically correct" become such big Christian issues anyway? Jesus was certainly not either of those two things! He called the most respected people of His time as a man "hypocrites" and "white washed tombs". He knocked the tables over in the Temple and drove people out with a whip. Doesn't sound very tolerant or politically correct to me....... Yet we know that Jesus NEVER sinned. He was the only perfect man that ever walked the face of the earth. It's true that everything we do as Christians should be motivated by love. It's also true that we should love even our enemies. But how are we showing them love if they are sinning and we accept them as they are, and allow them to die with only eternal punishment to look forward to? Being a Christian means going well beyond being tolerant. Being a Christian means loving those who don't deserve it, when they don't want it (our love), and we know they will never return it. It involves sharing the truth of the Gospel even when we know we will be ridiculed and persecuted for doing it, by the very people we are trying to help! We cannot allow the actions of other's we deal with daily to affect us. A Christian is "on duty" 24-7, not just on Sundays & Wednesday night. Sadly, this great country of ours continues to fall farther and farther from it's Christian roots. People want to remove God from our schools, government and all other areas of our society, and then when something like "9-11" happens, they actually have the audacity to ask "Where was God? Why did He allow this to happen?" He was right where you told Him to be..... "out of your business"....... We need to repent both as individuals and as a nation! When we have truly repented we will hate the evil things we have done in the past. We will be sorry that we ever did them, and we will have a genuine desire to turn away from them. If God's grace hasn't brought us to this level yet, then maybe we should "remove the log from our eye before digging for a speck in our brothers" (obvious bad paraphrase). But if we are at that point, it's time to share the truth with others (even when it's not the popular thing to do). This is showing real love....... Home |
